Ropes & Gray retains top spot in fund formation ranking

(Boston, May 12, 2008) For the fourth consecutive year, Ropes & Gray is the top-ranked U.S. law firm in private equity fund formation. The firm earned the top ranking in Private Equity Analyst's 2007 list of the "most active law firms by number of funds," advising general partners and limited partners in the formation of 574 funds.
Ropes & Gray also moved into the top 10 of the same survey with a ninth-place ranking for private equity and venture capital deals negotiated and closed in 2007. The largest of those deals was the firm's representation of Silver Lake Partners and Texas Pacific Group in their $8.2 billion acquisition of Avaya. Ropes & Gray regularly scores at or near the top of respected rankings like those published by Private Equity Analyst.
