Practice
Al Cacozza is a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Ropes & Gray. His practice focuses on providing advice to a variety of health care clients on legislative, regulatory and corporate matters.
Professional Experience
Some of his major projects have included managing an internal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) safety audit for a national non-profit health organization; advising biotechnology clients on technology transfers, employment agreements and university conflict-of-interest policies; providing strategic advice to a variety of health care clients related to patent and non-patent market exclusivity issues; reviewing prescription and over-the-counter drug labeling and advertising for compliance with FDA promotional regulations; and coordinating efforts of a major health care corporation addressing competitive issues before the FTC; and counseling multinational pharmaceutical corporations regarding compliance with information privacy requirements.
From 1987 to 1991, Al was Counsel to the Subcommittee on Labor of the U.S. Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. Prior to that, he was in private practice focusing on tort liability and administrative law, including extensive work with the special settlement master in the Agent Orange class action litigation.
For nearly ten years, Al was an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law School, where he taught a course on legislative interpretation.
