Practice

Ann Lewis is counsel in Ropes & Gray's Health Care practice in New York. She focuses her practice on HHS OIG compliance, in particular, the development and communication of health care law compliance policies, as well as other elements of compliance programs, including creative approaches to training, auditing, monitoring and investigations.

Professional Experience

With twenty-five years experience in the pharmaceutical industry advising on regulation of sales and marketing, and commercial issues, Ann was an early and forceful advocate for the need to understand and communicate the government's compliance expectations to the pharmaceutical industry.  She directed a cross functional team in the development and implementation of the first health care law compliance program at Pfizer Inc, and headed the US health care law compliance function at Bristol-Myers Squibb in a time of culture change. Recently, Ann was a key presenter and a key member of a team negotiating a Corporate Integrity Agreement resulting from a high stakes settlement with the US Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.

As an Assistant District Attorney in New York County, Ann prosecuted more than 100 felony cases and handled numerous appeals. Ann began her career as an Assistant Counsel to New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller, and served under Governors Wilson and Carey as well.
