Arthur Mok is a partner in our Private Equity and Life Sciences group. Arthur concentrates his practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and growth equity financings, and complex commercial arrangements, with a particular focus on advising entrepreneurs, businesses, and investors operating in the life sciences and technology industries in mainland China. Arthur advises clients such as Hao Capital, Johnson & Johnson, Goldman Sachs, Hutchison MediPharma, Profex and Vivo Ventures.

Arthur is the managing partner of the firm’s Shanghai office and has practiced in China since 2004. 

Representative Clients and Matters

  • Represented a leading US based healthcare focused private equity fund on several investments in specialty pharmaceutical companies operating in China.
  • Represented a leading China based specialty pharmaceutical company focused on liver disease therapeutic products on its corporate restructuring, preferred equity financing and strategic licensing activities.
  • Represented a leading life sciences company based in China on the sale of a strategic interest to a large multinational pharmaceutical company.
  • Represented Hao Capital, a multi-strategy Beijing-based private equity fund, on numerous investments in China, including in the healthcare, retail consumer, and clean tech industries.
  • Represented Hutchison MediPharma on its worldwide strategic alliance with Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to discover and develop novel small-molecule therapeutics against a target in the area of inflammation; also advised Hutchison MediPharma on its landmark strategic partnership agreement with Eli Lilly & Company to develop pharmaceutical compounds focused on targets in oncology and inflammation.
  • Represented Cathay Industrial Biotech on its $52 million Series B preferred equity financing and its $135 million Series C preferred equity financing. Represented Ingenix, a division of UnitedHealth, on its acquisition of a privately-held Shanghai-based life sciences advisory firm.
