Augustine focuses his practice on criminal and civil fraud and antitrust matters, representing clients in active litigation, grand jury investigations, and agency enforcement actions or investigations. Augustine has broad experience working with clients in the pharmaceutical, health care, and life sciences industries and managing large teams of attorneys on such matters.

Augustine maintains an active pro bono litigation practice, representing clients in both federal district and appellate courts involving nationally reported public interest cases.

During law school, Augustine served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Reggie B. Walton of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and as a legal intern to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Representative Clients and Matters

  • Represented a major pharmaceutical company in a multi-billion dollar litigation brought by the United States, various states, and relators alleging violations of the False Claims Act and state laws.
  • Represented a medical device company in response to grand jury investigation of marketing, sales and billing practices.
  • Represented a private equity firm in a transaction involving its health care industry portfolio company subjected to U.S. Department of Justice scrutiny, resulted in a withdrawal of the Department’s second request.
  • Represented the chairman of a major online sports betting service faced with several federal charges, including fraud and RICO.
  • Represented a New England Hospital in response to a subpoena issued by the National Labor Relations Board, resulting in a withdrawal of the Board’s subpoena.
  • Represented a voting rights organization at the federal district and appellate court in a case of first impression regarding disclosure requirements of the National Voter Registration Act.
  • Represented individual physicians and associations in a First Amendment challenge to state law regulating practitioners’ ability to discuss firearm safety with patients.
  • Represented a non-profit organization at the federal district court and appellate court in administrative challenge overturning Department of Interior regulations.
