Bryan, co-leader of the firm's Investment Management Group, represents mutual funds, independent directors and some of the country's largest investment advisers.  He also has extensive experience in organizing alternative investment products, including hedge funds, private equity funds and funds-of-funds (both registered and unregistered), and advising clients on cross-border matters, with a particular emphasis on non-U.S. sponsors offering products and services into the U.S.  Bryan was the head of the firm's New York office from its founding in 2001 until earlier this year.

Representative Clients and Matters

  • Has for over twenty years represented the Putnam Funds and their independent trustees in all aspects of their ongoing operations, including the creation of novel investment products and the distribution of US funds in Europe and Asia.
  • Represents Western Asset Management Company, one of the country's largest fixed income managers, and various registered and private funds it manages, including Western Asset Funds, a series of mutual funds designed for institutional investors, and four closed-end funds.
  • Represents BlackRock, Inc.'s private equity fund of funds business, assisting with the formation of investment vehicles and separate accounts for high net worth individuals, institutions, ERISA plans and non-US investors.
  • Has organized or represented the independent directors of a number of hedge funds of funds registered under the Investment Company Act, including so-called "1099 funds".
  • Represents the independent trustees of Market Vectors ETFs, an exchange traded fund complex that specializes in international and non-traditional asset classes.
