Staff Hiring: Benefits and Perks
Employee benefits are an important part of total compensation at Ropes & Gray. As such, the firm provides a wide range of health, security, time off, retirement, and other benefits designed to meet the many needs of our diverse staff.
Health Benefits
Medical, Vision & Dental The firm offers medical plans administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a vision plan administered by Spectera, and a comprehensive dental plan through Delta Dental which includes orthodontic care for staff and covered dependents. Staff may select from four coverage categories:
- Individual;
- Individual plus spouse or domestic partner;
- Individual plus child or children; or
- Individual plus full family.
The firm covers most of the cost of medical, vision and dental insurance and staff contributions are made on a pre-tax basis. Full-time staff who are enrolled in medical coverage through their spouse or domestic partner are paid an opt-out incentive.
Domestic Partner Benefits The firm offers medical, vision, dental, and life insurance benefits to same-sex or opposite-sex domestic partners. Staff may designate their domestic partner as the beneficiary for any life insurance, voluntary accident insurance, travel accident insurance, 401(k) savings, and retirement plan account and/or pension benefit.
Security Benefits
Life Insurance The firm provides staff with basic life insurance coverage. Also, staff may purchase supplemental life insurance for themselves, their spouse or domestic partner, or their children.
Disability Coverage The firm provides short-term disability protection against non-work-related illness or injury. The firm also provides long-term disability protection against non-work-related illness or injury.
Long-Term Care Insurance Staff may purchase Long Term Care insurance through a firm-sponsored plan. Spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, and children are also eligible to apply for coverage.
Time Off Benefits
The firm provides a generous number of holidays, and vacation, sick, and personal days.
Retirement
401(k) Retirement Savings Plan Staff are eligible to participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. In addition to making elective contributions on a pre-tax basis, staff are eligible to receive an annual firm contribution after a year of employment with the firm.
Pension Plan The firm provides a defined benefit pension plan to eligible staff members subject to a 6 year vesting schedule. Eligible staff members enter the plan upon their date of hire.
