Cassandra regularly advises multinational corporations and their executives in government investigations of potential violations of some of the most pressing securities and enforcement issues facing clients, including those related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, revenue recognition, insider trading, and other criminal statutes and securities fraud regulations. She also works with clients in developing corporate compliance programs and conducting internal investigations and due diligence reviews. Cassandra has often joined local counsel at the penalty or appellate phase of litigation to assist clients in presenting arguments for the lowest possible penalties and negotiating agreements with the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other governmental authorities.

Cassandra recently worked with a team to obtain a judgment of acquittal at the close of the government’s case for a former Associate General Counsel at a major pharmaceutical company who was charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements in connection with an FDA inquiry into the company’s marketing practices. In 2010, Cassandra’s successful representation of a defendant charged in the Jack Abramoff conspiracy led to the dismissal of all felony counts and resolution through a misdemeanor plea with no associated jail time.
