Dan joined the Bankruptcy and Business Restructuring group of Ropes & Gray’s London office in 2010, as counsel. He was previously with the London office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
Dan's practice involves advising debtors, creditors, insolvency practitioners, and private equity sponsors on all aspects of insolvencies and restructurings. He has extensive experience with both cross-border and domestic cases, as well as with advising institutional and hedge fund creditors in the restructuring of failing portfolio investments and strategic investments in distressed debt situations.
- Acting for Goldman Sachs European Special Situations Group in connection with a number of investments.
- Acting for certain mezzanine lenders to KCA Deutag Oil Services Group, including funds managed by BlackRock Financial Management, Inc., EIG Management Company, LLC and GoldenTree Asset Management LP, in connection with KCA’s financial restructuring.
- Acting for Sankaty Advisors and GoldenTree Asset Management, as Euro note purchasers in connection with the issuance of €110 million eight-year senior secured notes that will refinance the debts of Almatis, resulting in the company’s exit from bankruptcy.
- Acting for Dubai International Capital in connection with the restructuring of the Almatis Group through Chapter 11 proceedings.
- Acting for the sponsors of the Truvo yellow pages group, reviewing finance and security documents and devising a bespoke restructuring implementation proposal involving a combined European security enforcement and Chapter 11 process.
- Acting for the B2 Lenders to the Four Seasons Healthcare Group in connection with the 2009 restructuring of the Group’s hybrid loan-CMBS capital structure.
- Acting for the resolution committee of Kaupthing Bank h.f. in connection with various defaulting loans to property investment groups.
- Acting for GateGourmet in connection with the restructuring of its capital structure, reviewing finance and security documentation and developing fallback strategies.
- Part of a team advising the debtors in the Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and Enron Corp. Chapter 11 cases.
