Practice

Don De Amicis' practice involves finance, bankruptcy and business restructuring matters. He has extensive experience representing financial institutions, bondholder committees, purchasers, debtors, and boards of directors in domestic and cross-border loans, work-outs and insolvencies, and in representing asset managers in connection with securitization and derivatives transactions. His practice involves counseling clients on ways to protect business relationships and credit exposures from counterparty insolvency risk. A former chair of the Section of International Law of the American Bar Association, he also represents clients in cross-border matters.

Professional Experience

Clients include corporations, banks, hedge and private equity funds, investment companies and investment advisers, and other institutional investors.

Don has represented numerous official and unofficial committees in distressed restructurings and bankruptcies, including, High Voltage Engineering Corporation; Archibald Candy Corporation; Fitzgerald Gaming Corporation; Pratt Casino Corporation; Trump Castle; Primestar, Inc.; and Premium Standard Farms.

Professional & Civic Activities

Don is active in the American Bar Association, where he currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors, and is a past Chair of the Section of International Law.  He has had extensive involvement in international rule of law programs.  Don is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, International Bar Association, the International Insolvency Institute, and the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations.

Don has written and spoken extensively in the area of insolvency.  Publications include Creditors Rights and Bankruptcy, The International Lawyer Deskbook, 2d Edition (2003); and Bondholder Workouts In and Outside of Bankruptcy, 12 Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice 6 (2003).  He serves on the External Editorial Board for The International Lawyer.
