Giselle J. Joffre joined Ropes & Gray in 2003 as an associate in the Litigation Department.

Professional Experience

Giselle's practice focuses on complex business litigation, with experience primarily in the fields of securities and data privacy law. She has worked on diverse matters in various venues, including most recently:
  • Defense of investment companies in connection with allegations of fraud relating to market timing and revenue sharing, including participation in government investigations, federal multi-district litigation and settlement negotiations;
  • Internal investigations at a publicly-traded retail company relating to compliance with data privacy laws regarding consumer data storage, protection and confidentiality;
  • Defense of an insurance company against a multi-million dollar bad faith claim in Ohio state court; and
  • A real estate contract dispute involving healthcare companies and defense of a construction company against a personal injury claim, both in Massachusetts state court.

In 2008, she served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In this role, she prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases in the Cambridge District Court. Her pro bono practice has included work in the areas of family law and political asylum immigration law.
