Materials Science
The Intellectual Property Group has significant experience in prosecuting and litigating patents in the area of materials science. This, along with our deep scientific and technical knowledge in the field, helps us ensure that our clients’ materials science technology and ideas are protected to the fullest extent.
Our group is home to dozens of attorneys, patent agents and technical advisors with advanced degrees in technical fields—including 29 Ph.D.s in materials science, polymer science and engineering and chemistry-related areas. The attorneys in our materials science practice work closely with other industry practice groups, including those focusing on mechanical engineering, chemical and biological technologies and nanotechnology, to offer cross-disciplinary expertise in all of the issue areas required to develop and protect intellectual property related to materials science.
We have worked closely with clients dealing with metals, polymers, ceramics, glasses, electronic materials, magnetic materials, biomaterials, composites and other materials. Intellectual Property Group professionals have specific experience in the development of batteries, thin films, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), semiconductor devices and catalysts.
