Practice
Jeff Heidt is a partner in the Health Care Group of Ropes & Gray. Jeff’s practice is a mixture of corporate, regulatory and financial matters. The majority of clients for whom he now has primary responsibility are hospitals, health systems and their affiliated educational and business institutions some of which he has worked with for over three decades.
Professional Experience
Jeff’s early practice was focused on reimbursement matters, including successfully pursuing on behalf of dozens of hospitals and health systems across the country appeals from President Nixon's Price Controls, exceptions to Medicare routine cost limits, Medicare and Medicaid rate appeals, and appeals from Blue Cross final settlement determinations. On behalf of a Boston teaching hospital, he succeeded in challenging the first charge control regulations in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Jeff’s early background in healthcare finance and payment systems proved invaluable to our clients during the course of their corporate reorganizations, the restructuring and integration of their delivery systems and in creating financing mechanisms that maximize the benefit to our clients of both public and private capital resources. He has been involved in the mergers and affiliations that have created most of the major healthcare systems in Massachusetts (including Boston Medical Center, CareGroup, Partners Healthcare and Caritas-Christi Health System) and provides continuing counsel to many of them and to their constituent institutions. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Jeff was a partner and head of the health care group at a large Boston law firm.
