John Beard is a 1957 Harvard Law School graduate who became a partner of Ropes & Gray in 1967, and retired on December 31, 2000.

As a member of the Corporate Department, John focused on private and public financings, mergers and acquisitions and strategic alliances. He represented a number of companies from infancy through their initial public offerings to their current positions as major players in the regional economy.
