Joshua Jackson joined Ropes & Gray in 2008.
Professional Experience
Josh works in the firm's medical device and engineering IP practices. He has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and conducting patent infringement, validity and freedom to operate analyses for a wide range of technologies including software, electronics, mobile computing devices, computer networking, electrostimulation, orthopedics, drug delivery, MEMS displays, and mass spectrometry systems. He also has experience in conducting intellectual property due diligence analysis in association with private equity transactions.
Josh's graduate work at the University of Michigan focused on research topics in the area of implantable MEMS neural probes and in exploiting the near-infrared absorbance properties of carbon nanotubes for destroying cancerous cells. As an undergraduate student, he worked on fiber optic-laser communication systems, problems related to solar cell efficiency, and on an ultrasonic-laser flaw identification system for detecting subsurface microflaws in manufacturing materials. Josh has also worked at Cleveland Clinic where he researched the effects of Deep Brain Stimulation on Parkinson's disease.
