Megan works with high tech and biotech clients to enforce clients’ patent rights, and to defend clients from accusations of patent infringement. Megan has experience litigating in a number of significant patent jurisdictions, including Delaware, Texas, Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the International Trade Commission. Her experience spans from the pre-suit investigation stage through discovery and trial preparation to settlement and freedom to operate opinions. Megan has litigated in a variety of technical fields, including biotechnology, electronics, consumer products, internet technology, computer software, mobile devices, and cryptography. Before law school, Megan was a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Laboratory of Immunoregulation (Center for Biologics, Evaluation, and Research), where she co-authored two papers on vaccine design and development.
- Motorola Mobility, Inc. v. Microsoft Corp. (ITC and W.D. Wash.) – Representing Motorola against Microsoft in multiple patent infringement actions involving wide variety of technology, including Motorola Droid, Microsoft Xbox, MS Exchange, and Windows 7.
- Shelbyzyme LLC v. Genzyme Corp., Case No. 09-cv-768 (D. Del.) (pending) – Defending Genzyme in patent infringement action concerning Genzyme’s life-saving drug, Fabrazyme®.
- Progressive Casualty Insurance, Inc. v. Allstate Insurance Co. et al. Case No. 11-cv-82 (N.D. Ohio) (pending) – Defending Liberty Mutual from infringement allegations concerning on-line insurance policy services.
- PerkinElmer, Inc. et al. v. Intema Ltd., No. 1:09-cv-10176 (D. Mass) (pending) – Defending PerkinElmer in litigation involving a patent concerning a method of administering pre-natal Down syndrome screening.
- Micro Motion, Inc. v. Krohne GMBH et. al., Case No. 1:09-cv-10319 (D. Mass) (pending) - Representing plaintiff Micro Motion in patent litigation regarding meter electronics for Coriolis mass flowmeters. In 2010, Megan argued in a Markman hearing for Micro Motion’s claim construction.
- In the Matter of Certain Wireless Communication System Server Software, Wireless Handheld Devices and Battery Packs (Inv. 337-TA-706) – ITC action against RIM regarding patents directed to features on mobile devices. RIM settled shortly before the Markman hearing in the ITC case as part of a global settlement agreement.
- Motorola, Inc. v. VTech Communications Inc., et al., Case No. 5:07-cv-00171-DF-CMC (E.D. Tex.) – Successfully concluded litigation relating to five patents covering telecommunication products.
