Practice
Michael Fee, a partner in the Boston office of Ropes & Gray, joined the firm in 1989. Since joining Ropes & Gray, Michael has represented clients in criminal litigation and counseled clients in federal and state investigations. Michael also handles civil litigation matters, many of which are related to government enforcement.
Professional Experience
After clerking for the Honorable A. David Mazzone, United States District Judge for the District of Massachusetts, Michael joined the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice under the Attorney General's Honors Program. As a prosecutor in the Criminal Division's Public Integrity Section, Michael was responsible for grand jury investigations and prosecutions involving extortion, bribery, conflict of interest, and other offenses committed by public officials. During his tenure at the Public Integrity Section, Michael also conducted preliminary investigations of high-ranking federal officials to determine whether the Attorney General should request the appointment of an Independent Counsel.
Michael has defended numerous clients in matters involving health care, securities, investment adviser regulation, export law, public corruption and campaign finance law.
