Patrick focuses on white-collar criminal defense, governmental investigations, and complex civil litigation. He has represented companies under investigation by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Congress, and other federal and state authorities. In particular, he has helped several pharmaceutical and device manufacturers respond to investigations by the Department of Justice and Attorneys General offices concerning allegedly fraudulent marketing and pricing practices.

Patrick’s pro bono practice has included the representation of individuals in federal immigration court, a non-profit organization in a challenge to a state agency’s interpretation of an environmental statute, and an individual in a civil rights action against a municipal agency.

Representative Clients and Matters

  • Representing a medical device manufacturer in federal court on alleged conspiracy, wire fraud and misbranding charges.
  • Representing a pharmaceutical company in Department of Justice investigation of potential off-label promotional activities.
  • Represented a pharmaceutical company in response to a Congressional investigation.
  • Represented an institutional investment manager in ERISA action and Securities and Exchange Commission investigation relating to losses in subprime asset-backed securities in unregistered collective trust funds.
  • Represented a biotechnology company in federal suit alleging violations of the Anti-Kickback Act.
