Practice
Robert Morgan is a partner in Ropes & Gray's Intellectual Property Group. He has been with the firm since 2005 when it merged with Fish & Neave, the IP boutique he had been with since 1969.
Bob's trial practice is focused in the fields of telecommunications, electronics, semiconductor technology, and medical instruments and products. He advises clients concerning intellectual property asset management, licensing, patent validity and infringement issues.
Professional Experience
Bob has been lead counsel and co-counsel in more than 25 trials, including patent cases such as Linear Technology Corp. v. Micrel Corp.; United Video v. StarSight; Mitsubishi v. Ampex; BOC v. Nellcor; Cyrix v. Intel; National Semiconductor Corp. v. Linear Technology Corp. He has argued numerous appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Bob has spoken at seminars including PLI and the Sedona Conference. He is a co-author of the Model Patent Jury Instructions of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the LaGuardia Community College Foundation. Bob was a lieutenant in the United States Army from 1970-72.
Representative clients include Lucent Technologies, Motorola Inc., Linear Technology Corp. and Aerotel.
