Ropes & Gray Tax Partner, Lorry Spitzer, will chair MCLE's fourth annual Nonprofit Conference on February 6. The Conference, which will focus on "entrepreneurial" nonprofits, provides an analysis of important current developments including the effects of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation on nonprofits, the role of the attorney general in policing entrepreneurial nonprofits, the legal implications of joint ventures with taxable and tax exempt partners, when to use and when to avoid limited liability companies, and the impact of intermediate sanctions legislation on nonprofit compensation. Ropes & Gray attorneys Karen A. Johnson and Kendi E. Ozmon will be addressing the topic of "venture philanthropy" during the Conference. This is the fourth consecutive year that Lorry has chaired the Nonprofit Conference.
