Tom is a member of Ropes & Gray's Finance department. He has deep experience representing borrowers and lenders in a variety of debt transactions, from asset-based loans to investment bonds. Tom frequently represents borrowers in senior debt financings, typically in leveraged acquisitions either for private equity sponsors or strategic purchasers. He also specializes in liquidity financings for registered and private investment funds.
- Represented Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. in structuring and obtaining $1.45 billion senior secured credit facilities to finance the acquisitions of Diedrich and Van Houtte.
- Represented Kohlberg & Co. in obtaining $314 million of senior secured credit facilities from GE Capital to refinance existing debt and to fund a recent acquisition and shareholder dividend for Centerplate, best known for upscale concession franchises at professional sports arenas and stadiums.
- Represented Genzyme Corporation in their offering of two series of investment grade notes.
- Other 2010 transactions included senior and mezzanine financings for seven middle market leverage buyouts, as well as numerous fund liquidity loans and new and restated senior credit facilities for strategic clients.
