Vasanth Sarathy joined Ropes and Gray in 2005 and is an associate.
He handles the management and strategic development of intellectual property matters in a wide variety of technical disciplines including electronics, software, videogame technology, Internet applications, computer networking, wireless telecommunications, medical devices, medical imaging, bioinformatics, geophysical and ocean exploration, and consumer goods.
He works with clients ranging in size from small start-up companies to large, established, domestic and international corporations.
Professional Experience
Vasanth has experience in preparing and prosecuting both utility and design patent applications, and conducting patent infringement, validity and freedom to operate analyses for a wide range of technologies.
He also has experience in advising clients during transactions involving intellectual property, including technology and brand licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and private-equity transactions.
His graduate work at MIT focused on research topics in the area of automotive electrical systems including automotive battery modeling, and polymeric insulation degradation and accelerated life testing of automotive electrical systems. At the University of Arkansas, he worked on problems of subsurface sensing of buried objects and new techniques in computational electromagnetics. Vasanth has also worked at Schlumberger's research and product centers developing signal processing algorithms for use in geophysical prospecting.
