Bill primarily represents domestic and international sponsors of private investment funds, including: buy-out, venture capital, mezzanine, distressed securities, infrastructure, emerging market and special opportunity, and fund of funds. He works with these sponsors on their fundraising activities, organizational structure, operational matters, and portfolio company investments. He also assists fund sponsors with their internal management arrangements.

A former co-head of Ropes & Gray’s Private Investment Funds group, Bill is well recognized for his broad knowledge of industry best practices and “market” terms and conditions. He is a frequent invited speaker at private equity conferences—including ones sponsored by Private Equity International and Private Equity Analyst—and he also chairs the Financial Research Associates’ annual Tax Practices for Private Equity Funds conference.
