Bill is a partner in the Private Equity Transactions group in London.

Bill represents private equity sponsors and private equity backed portfolio companies in mergers and acquisitions and related financings. Bill also focuses on mergers and acquisitions in the investment management industry, where he advises strategic buyers and management teams in sales of control and minority investments. Bill works with clients such as Bain Capital, Cadogan Management, J.W. Childs Associates, Landmark Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Representative Clients and Matters

  • Acting for TPG Capital in connection with its US$560 million acquisition of a 30% stake in Saxo Bank A/S, the Danish securities and forex brokerage, and asset management firm from Banco Espirito Santo SA and General Atlantic LLC
  • Acting for Smedvig Capital in connection with their minority investment in MediaMorph.
  • Representing Landmark Partners in its strategic partnership transaction with Religare Enterprises. 
  • Represented Cadogan Management in a management buy-out of the firm from Fortis Investments. 
  • Represented Bain Capital in its $2.15 billion stalking horse bid to purchase Neuberger Berman from the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy estate. 
  • Represented Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners in their $26.7 billion acquisition of Clear Channel. 
  • Represented J.W. Childs Associates in its acquisition of Mattress Firm, Inc.
