Renee Laws is counsel in the asset management group. Renee’s practice focuses on representing registered investment companies, their independent trustees, and investment advisers on regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters. She regularly advises clients regarding the development, registration, and operation of fund products, including the preparation and review of disclosure in offering documents, proxy statements, and other shareholder communications. Renee provides ongoing representation of registered investment companies’ boards of trustees and works with clients to respond to SEC rules affecting the investment management industry. Renee also has experience advising clients on fund reorganizations, as well as the creation and implementation of compliance programs for investment advisers and investment companies.
In addition to her asset management practice, Renee contributes to the firm’s pro bono efforts, including through case research for a rights restoration coalition and participation in small business clinics.

- Represents AMG Funds on a wide range of corporate, compliance and regulatory matters.
- Represents Brighthouse Funds on a full range of matters, including disclosure, compliance matters, fund reorganizations, investment activities, board matters, and sub-advisory and other service provider arrangements.
- Represents Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co., LLC and the GMO Trust mutual fund complex on a wide range of corporate, compliance and regulatory matters.
- Represents the Independent Trustees of Schwab Funds.
- Represents the Voya Funds complex on a wide variety of matters relating to mutual funds and closed-end funds, including the development of new products, fund reorganizations, compliance matters, investment activities, board matters, and service provider arrangements.
- Advises asset managers on various regulatory and compliance matters, including new rules and regulations under the Investment Company Act of 1940, the establishment and implementation of compliance programs, and enforcement matters.
