Making a Statement
- “Ropes associates can hardly find a negative word to utter about their employer, which is probably why the firm is perennially near the top of our ranking of the best firms to work for.”

- “The opportunities for pro bono work are endless.”
- Associate quote, Vault 100 Rankings (2018)
Our associates immediately become instrumental in resolving important client matters, working with partners on a variety of transactions, litigations and regulatory issues. We strive to give our associates meaningful assignments, early client contact, and the best formal and informal training available. Summer associates have the opportunity to take assignments from across practice areas and industry groups. At the end of the summer, summer associates are asked to indicate the department in which they are most interested. Incoming associates join one of the firm’s main departments—corporate, litigation, IP litigation, tax & benefits, labor & employment, business restructuring or private client group.
Those joining the corporate department will be matched with two of the Corporate Department’s practice groups. The matches will be based on preferences you express and on the practice groups’ needs. We anticipate that the majority of your work assignments will come from your two matched groups, although additional work is likely to come from other groups both to meet department needs and provide you with a broad work experience.
