Catherine Yiren Chen
Associate
Catherine’s practice focuses on tax matters. She regularly advises private investment fund managers and investors on the formation and operation of private equity, venture capital and hedge funds, including tax and compliance issues raised by cross-border capital raising, operations and investments. Catherine also advises fund sponsors and public and private companies on the tax and regulatory aspects of transactional matters such as acquisitions, mergers, capital raising, restructurings, joint ventures, initial public offerings and debt issuances. She also represents institutional investors (sovereign wealth funds, funds-of-funds, and university endowments) in connection with their investments and secondary transactions. Catherine chose to focus on tax law because of the wide variety of different transactions tax attorneys are able to contribute to.
Before joining Ropes and Gray, Catherine worked in the New York City office of one of the largest global law firms.
