John Culhane

John “Jack” Culhane joined Ropes & Gray's tax, employment & benefits department in 2021. Jack’s practice focuses on representing clients on labor and employment matters in connection with domestic and international transactions. Jack also advises clients on a variety of employment issues, including employment agreements, restrictive covenants, union matters, wage and hour compliance, and reductions in force. Jack has experience conducting employment-related investigations, including in connection with violations of employment agreements and executive misconduct. In addition to assisting clients with labor and employment issues, Jack counsels private fund managers and investors on federal income tax matters.
During law school, Jack was selected to serve as a panelist at the NYU Labor Center's Annual Student Scholarship in Labor and Employment Law to present his scholarship on arbitrator authority to bind absent class members in class arbitrations. Prior to law school, Jack worked as a paralegal, assisting on white collar, criminal, corporate, and student defense cases.
