Matt Corriel is an associate based in Ropes & Gray’s New York office whose practice focuses on enforcement and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Matt was a litigation associate at another global law firm, where his practice focused on FCPA investigations, SEC enforcement matters, and RMBS litigation. In his pro bono work, Matt has handled applications for asylum and humanitarian parole, copyright disputes, name changes for transgender clients, and other matters.

Matt served as a law clerk for the Hon. Kermit V. Lipez on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, as well as the faculty fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Law School’s Center for Technology, Innovation, and Competition, where he focused on copyright and Internet law. As a law student, Matt was the inaugural symposium editor on the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, a teaching assistant in property law, and co-president of Penn’s Intellectual Property Group. His comment, Up for Grabs: A Workable System for the Unilateral Acquisition of Chattels, 161 U. Pᴀ. L. Rᴇᴠ. 807 (2013), has been cited in several scholarly articles, a casebook, and a reader on property law.

Matt is also an award-winning musical theatre composer-lyricist whose work has been performed across the country and who had the honor of writing and performing a song for the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
