Katie Doran

Director of Practice and Client Development

Katie is a senior member of Ropes & Gray’s business team. She leads the practice development teams that support the firm’s global asset management groups, including registered and private fund practices.  She also works closely with the firm’s partners and one of the firm’s largest private equity clients to manage that key relationship.   During her thirteen years at the firm, Katie also served as the lead professional support for the real estate investments & transactions practice and worked with senior leadership to oversee the firm's alumni, charitable giving and diversity programs.

Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Katie spent time in the public and private sectors. After graduating from law school, Katie worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to a senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives where she was responsible for an extensive portfolio of issues including: judiciary, education, housing, immigration, labor, welfare, and telecommunications.

Following her time on the Hill, Katie worked at a specialty management liability brokerage firm where she was responsible for the development and servicing of all new business for directors and officers, venture capital, private equity and environmental liabilities. Additionally, Katie was with Thomson West (now Thomas Reuters) where she was responsible for proposal development, contract management and product demonstrations of print and Westlaw online research to law firms and municipal governments.
