Katie Doran

Director of Practice Development

Katie is a director of practice development. She serves as the lead professional support for the global TPG client team, providing significant strategic support to the Client Coordinating Lawyers (“CCLs”) in managing the overall relationship. As the CCLs central point of contact and the client’s liaison to the various staff departments working on client initiatives, Katie provides organizational leadership over the business side of the TPG relationship including the communication and coordination of support and operational functions across the global client team.

Katie also plays a key role in the overall management of the practice development team and directly oversees the practice development members who support the firm's hedge funds, investment management, private investment funds and tax & benefits practices.

Previously, Katie served as the lead professional support for the real estate investments & transactions practice. Before joining the practice development team, Katie was responsible for the firm’s alumni, charitable giving and diversity programs.

Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Katie spent time in the public and private sectors. After graduating from law school, Katie worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to a senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives where she was responsible for an extensive issue list including: judiciary, education, housing, immigration, labor, welfare, and telecommunications. Following the Hill, Kate worked at a specialty management liability brokerage firm where she was responsible for the development and servicing of all new business for directors and officers, venture capital, private equity and environmental liabilities. Additionally, Katie was with Thomson West (now Thomas Reuters) where she was responsible for proposal development, contract management and product demonstrations of print and Westlaw online research to law firms and municipal governments.
