Deanna Barkett FitzGerald
AssociateDee FitzGerald joined Ropes & Gray in January 2013 as an associate in the litigation department. Prior to joining the firm, Dee served as an assistant attorney general in the trial division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, where she represented public agencies and their employees in civil rights and tort claims in both state and federal court. In that capacity, Dee successfully defended a state agency and former agency employee in a five-day state court jury trial involving sexual harassment and retaliation claims. She also successfully argued a motion for summary judgment in a personal injury case.
During law school, Dee worked in a clinic representing children in neglect and uncared-for proceedings in the New Haven Superior Court for Juvenile Matters. Prior to law school, Dee worked in city, state, and federal government. Among other things, Dee worked for the City of Boston’s Host Committee for the 2004 Democratic National Convention, as a policy aide to former Massachusetts attorney general Tom Reilly, and as a policy advisor to former U.S. Congressman Marty Meehan.
