Nancy E. Forbes
It is with great sadness that Ropes & Gray announces the passing of Nancy Forbes, a former head of the firm’s health care group, whose practice focused on health care mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. A partner for more than 30 years, she advised clients on all aspects of business, reimbursement and regulatory diligence, and had extensive experience in structuring new business ventures, particularly those involving new medical technologies. In addition to her corporate work, Ms. Forbes advised on basic science and human subjects research, research misconduct, and conflicts of interest matters.
Ms. Forbes was devoted to nonprofit and civic organizations, serving as a director of the American Academy of Healthcare Attorneys and the American Health Lawyers Association. She was also a member of the governing committee of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Forum and spoke extensively on the subjects of mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit corporate governance, and hospital/physician collaborative activities, among other topics.
“Nancy Forbes was a pioneer in the field of health care law,” said Tim McCrystal, co-chair of Ropes & Gray’s health care practice. “She was a nationally recognized leader and expert in the health care industry, and she inspired and mentored generations of Ropes & Gray health care lawyers. We will miss her wonderful presence at the firm.”
