Elena Gulkarov

Technical Advisor

Elena Gulkarov is a technical advisor in the intellectual property group, based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She has experience in patent litigation matters as well as due diligence in a wide variety of technology areas, including 5G/LTE, network security, semiconductors, and tissue engineering.

Elena received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Engineering & Management from Clarkson University. She then earned an M.S. in Engineering Management from Tufts University, where her research focused on disruptive innovation in the defense industry and software methodology modeling. 

Prior to joining the firm, Elena worked for 13 years as a principal systems engineer and business partner lead in a top global aerospace defense company, where, among other things, she led system integration and test efforts on electro-mechanical and software systems for large radar defense systems, such as a long-range, high-altitude, all-weather air and missile defense system, an elevated, persistent over-the-horizon sensor system, and a directed-energy, airport-protection system

Experience

  • Godo Kaisha IP Bridge v. Ericsson Inc. (E.D. Tex.): Assisting client in infringement and invalidity contention actions. Analyzing patents, standards, product features, and source code related to LTE and 5G technology.
  • Centripetal Networks, Inc. v. Palo Alto Networks Inc. (E.D. Vir., PTAB): Assisted defense of client in a patent infringement actions, focusing on five patents directed to network security, including petitions for inter partes review and invalidity contentions.
  • Organovo, Inc. v. Cellink AB (PTAB): Assisted defense of client in patent infringement actions, focusing on patent directed to tissue engineering, including petitions for inter partes review.
  • Assisted in IP due diligence for client’s semiconductor company acquisition.
