Xanadu C. Halkias
Xanadu C. Halkias joined Ropes & Gray in 2018 as a technical advisor and a registered Patent Agent in the intellectual property group. Prior to joining the firm, Xanadu worked several years as a Patent Agent preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent portfolios covering Europe, China and Japan. She also assisted with various due diligence projects and essentiality assessments for patent pools. Xanadu has also assisted in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Xanadu received her Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University where she researched advanced signal processing and machine learning techniques applied on bioacoustics for marine mammals. As an Adjunct Professor and post-doctorate researcher at the Université du Sud in Toulon, France, Xanadu taught several undergraduate and graduate level classes. Her research focused on deep Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sparse optimization techniques as applied in diverse problems such as hand written text recognition and bioacoustics. Xanadu is also a co-inventor of U.S. Patent No. 9,107,614 for a non-invasive device for arresting the tremors of patients who suffer for movement disorders.
