Matthew Judd is co-head of the firm’s private investment funds group and has over 20 years' experience in UK and European funds formation. Matthew joined the firm in February 2012, having previously been head of the global investment funds practice of a leading US firm, and a partner in the private funds group of a Magic Circle firm.

Matthew advises in relation to the structuring and establishment of private equity, credit, infrastructure, and real estate funds, private equity secondaries, spin-outs and carried interest and co-investment arrangements.

Experience

  • Acting for Nordic Capital on the formation of Nordic Capital Fund IX (4.3 billion), the 2.2 billion restructuring of Nordic Capital Fund VII and numerous co-investments
  • Acting for Index Ventures on the establishment of Index Ventures VIII, Index Growth III and Index Life Sciences VII
  • Acting for Proventus on the formation of Proventus Capital Partners III, a SEK12 billion credit fund
  • Acting for Crescent Capital Partners on the establishment of Crescent Capital Partners V Fund (AUD 675 million)
  • Acting for Partners Group on numerous primary investments and stapled, structured and other secondary transactions 
  • Acting for one of the world's leading investment managers on the establishment of its private equity and infrastructure fund of funds, setting up “funds-of-one”, advising on its primary and secondary fund investments and on secondary transactions
  • Acting for Alcentra on its Structured Credit Opportunities Funds platform
  • Several European managers on their spin-outs and first-time funds
