Alexandra Kandalaft joined Ropes & Gray’s litigation department in 2018. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation and merger review advocacy, particularly for clients in the healthcare and life sciences industries. Alex also has experience representing individuals in investigations by the Department of Justice and Securities Exchange Commission relating to alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She has experience preparing witnesses for government depositions.
Alex has an active pro bono practice focused on LGBTQ rights and immigration-related matters. She represents clients seeking asylum in the United States. She also drafted an amicus brief in a U.S. Supreme Court case involving LGBTQ rights and counseled the American Bar Association and individual student loan borrowers in a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education.
During law school, Alex was Annual Review editor of the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. She also externed with a judge on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. During and prior to law school, Alex worked in government affairs for the American Bar Association, advocating on issues of importance to the legal profession.
