Sonali Kapoor joined Ropes & Gray in 2019. Sonali works within the firm’s finance group, with a particular focus on leveraged financings and high yield debt offerings. Prior to joining the firm, Sonali worked as a foreign lawyer in a leading U.S. law firm in New York, where she advised private equity sponsors and private equity backed portfolio companies in mergers & acquisitions and asset purchase transactions. Sonali has also worked as an attorney in India for approximately five years, where she advised on a wide range of corporate transactions, including cross border mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments and entry strategies in India. Sonali has received her LL.M. from Columbia University, New York.

  • Advised Virgin Media on the $475 million-equivalent private placements taps of three tranches of existing senior secured notes, being the largest (by over two times) and the fastest private placement tap transaction that Goldman Sachs, who acted as placement agent, has ever seen in the market
  • Advised VTR, a leading Chilean telecoms operator and a Liberty Latin America group company, on its US$1.15 billion senior and senior secured notes offering as part of a whole-structure recapitalization
  • Advised Altice France, a subsidiary of Altice Europe, on the $900 million-equivalent issuance of senior secured notes due 2029
  • Advised Virgin Media on the $675 million issuance of senior notes due 2030
  • Advised Vodafone Ziggo group on the €100 million private placement of vendor financing notes due 2024
