Chief Human Resources Officer
Fran Liben is the firm’s chief human resources officer, responsible for HR strategies and programs. By attracting, developing, training, engaging and retaining the most talented people,, Human Resources supports the firm's delivery of excellent client service. Working with a dedicated team, Fran plays a leadership role in the firm’s legal recruiting (entry-level and lateral associates, counsel and partners), attorney development (staffing, performance, engagement), training, diversity and inclusion, alumni relations, pro bono, and global mobility functions. Fran also oversees business support HR functions, including recruiting, talent development, employee relations, training ,performance management, compensation, benefits, and HR systems and operations. Fran sits on the firm’s staff senior leadership team and reports to the chief operating officer. Fran has over 20 years of experience in law firm management at Ropes & Gray. She came to Ropes & Gray after a successful career as a practicing lawyer, where she was a litigation partner. Fran is admitted to the bars of the states of Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
