Joe Lam joined Ropes & Gray’s private equity group in the San Francisco office in 2020.

Prior to joining the firm, Joe worked as a corporate lawyer at a large international law firm in Sydney, Australia, where his practice focused on the representation of financial buyers and sellers in public and private mergers & acquisitions, as well as routine corporate and governance matters.

  • Represented Varsity Healthcare Partners in its acquisition of VetEvolve, a veterinary care platform from Align Capital Partners.
  • Represented Altamont Capital Partners and Douglas Products in the sale of Douglas Products, a manufacturer of specialty chemical pest management products, to Brightstar Capital Partners.
  • Represented Altamont Capital Partners in the sale of Dukes Root Control, a leading sanitary sewer root control and maintenance services platform, to Comvest Partners.
  • Represented Silver Lake in the acquisition of LiquidFrameworks, a field-service SaaS company by its portfolio company ServiceMax, and the subsequent sale of ServiceMax to PTC, Inc.
  • Represented Altamont Capital Partners and Fox Racing in the sale of Fox Racing, a motocross equipment, apparel and accessory brand, to Vista Outdoor.
  • Represented Altamont Capital Partners in its acquisition of Service Minds, a provider of electrical, plumbing and HVAC services.
  • Represents Altamont Capital Partners’ portfolio companies Amplity Health, CHE Behavioral Health Services, Hybrid Apparel and J.D. Byrider in a variety of matters.
  • Represented Elliott Investment Management L.P. and Evergreen Coast Capital in its investment in Removery, a leading tattoo removal business, and ongoing funds matters.
  • Represented TPG Capital in a simultaneous carve-out of AT&T’s U.S. video business (DIRECTV) and investment in the newly carved out business.
  • Represented The Baupost Group in various joint ventures and investments.
