Christa Millard is an associate in the litigation and enforcement practice group in the San Francisco office. Christa focuses her practice on civil litigation and government and internal investigations. Her matters have spanned many stages of the investigation and litigation process, including presenting to government authorities, drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, and conducting discovery (such as preparing for depositions and managing document reviews). Christa’s clients range from individuals to Fortune 10 corporations, with a focus on entities within the health care industry, financial services industry, and digital assets space. 

Christa’s experience involves advising clients on the application of securities laws to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and providing litigation analysis on due diligence assessments for crypto-related transactions. Christa has contributed to and co-led the firm’s quarterly crypto publication, co-authored articles on various crypto-related matters, and prepared external presentations on cryptocurrency litigation and enforcement.

Christa maintains an active pro bono practice representing clients and supporting case teams in criminal defense, domestic violence, and immigration proceedings. Prior to law school, Christa worked in the financial services industry.

  • Supported response to government investigation of a pharmaceutical wholesaler covering a wide array of alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act.
  • Conducted internal investigation for health care company responding to whistleblower complaint regarding conflicts of interest and misuse of funds.
  • Defended former corporate officer of a public company in SEC investigations related to accounting misstatements, resulting in the SEC downgrading its allegations from fraud to books and records violations.
  • Conducted internal investigation for medical device company related to health care provider kickback allegations and allegations of retaliation.
  • Represents global pharmaceutical company in inquiries by the FTC and a state attorney general into alleged violations of antitrust and consumer protection laws.
  • Drafts employee trainings to properly investigate allegations of workplace harassment, bias, and discrimination.

  • Litigating on behalf of medical device manufacturer in federal district court concerning violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act.
  • Represents clients in a wide variety of business litigation matters in California state and federal court. 

Pro Bono

  • Secured asylum for a woman and her daughters seeking asylum from gang violence in El Salvador.
  • Representing a woman and her daughters seeking asylum from gang violence in Mexico.
  • Partners with the Innocence Project to assist individuals whose convictions were based upon flawed DNA evidence with post-conviction relief, and representing individuals seeking asylum in the U.S.
  • Partners with Family Violence Appellate Project (FVAP) to assist domestic violence survivors seeking restraining orders and child custody.
