James Mack is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s intellectual property litigation group. James works in fields including semiconductors, light emitting diodes (LEDs), microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), wireless communications, medical devices, and aerospace. He has worked on patent and trade secret cases before federal district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and at arbitration.
Prior to joining Ropes & Gray in 2014, James worked in the semiconductor capital equipment industry for two years, where he worked in research and development. James obtained a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Electrical Engineering, where he developed a novel microscope system capable of studying semiconductor deposition processes at the atomic scale. He is a member of IEEE and has authored two peer-reviewed scientific journal articles on his research. James is an inventor on twelve patent applications, from his work in both academia and industry.
