Joshua Nicholson is an associate in Ropes & Gray's private equity practice group. Prior to joining the firm, Joshua was an associate in the Johannesburg office of a leading African law firm. 

Joshua has a broad range of experience advising private equity sponsors on domestic and international transactions, including acquisitions, carve-outs, reorganisations, joint ventures and minority investments, across the consumer goods and services, financial services, health care, education and technology sectors.

  • Advised Astorg on the demerger of Fastmarkets from Delinian, formerly known as Euromoney Institutional Investor plc
  • Advised TSG Consumer Partners on its acquisition of Cadogan Tate, a premium moving and storage business, specialising in fine art
  • Advised TPG’s The Rise Fund on its acquisition of Outcomes First Group, a UK-based provider of best-in-class education to young people and adults with autism, learning disabilities, and other complex Special Education Needs
  • Advised TPG Growth on its investment in Musixmatch, a leading global music data platform
  • Advised Partners Group on its investment in GHO Capital Partners’ portfolio company Sterling Pharma Solutions, a global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization
  • Advised Astorg on its acquisition of the Fastmarkets business division of Euromoney Institutional Investor, as part of a £1.61bn acquisition of the financial publisher of Euromoney by Astorg and Epiris
  • Advised Virtusa Corporation on its acquisition of BRIGHT, one of the largest elite partners to ServiceNow & Splunk in EMEA
  • Acted for a group of existing shareholders in the Tyme Group in relation to existing and additional investments in the Tyme Group, a digital bank operating in South African and South-East Asia
