Samiksha Ramesh

Technical Advisor

Samiksha is a technical advisor in Ropes and Gray's intellectual property litigation and strategic transactions groups. In this capacity, she has worked on litigation matters argued in federal district court and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and International Trade Commission (ITC) and helped advise clients on strategic IP considerations. Samiksha’s work spans a wide range of technical fields, including software, medical devices, telecommunications, digital health solutions, and semiconductors.

Samiksha contributes to the firm's pro bono work, including advising on intellectual property considerations for small business clients and conducting research on international gun laws for an organization seeking to reduce gun violence. Samiksha is also part of the teaching staff for the Patent Law and Global Public Health (“PatentX”) course offered jointly by the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”) and Harvard Law School to students around the world interested in learning about global patent systems and how they can be leveraged to aid in the development of global health solutions.

Prior to joining the firm, Samiksha spent three years working in new technology development at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, where she was involved in formulating commercialization and intellectual property strategies for over 75 different inventions. She concurrently earned two degrees in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, an M.S.E. (with a concentration in Biomedical Data Science) and a B.S. (with a concentration in Instrumentation and Imaging). While at Hopkins, Samiksha founded a startup which  designs tools to make remote physical therapy accessible for pediatric patients, developed predictive algorithms to support clinical decision-making in intensive care units, and assisted with nanofiber-based technology research. She also completed internships at UBS Asset Management, where she leveraged machine learning methods to predict investment portfolio performance, and Medtronic, where she helped build surgical devices used to treat lung cancer.

  • Centripetal Inc. v. Palo Alto Networks (E.D. Va.; PTAB) – Assisting Palo Alto Networks against a 13-patent infringement suit related to firewall and network security.
  • Godo Kaisha IP Bridge 1 v. Micron Technology, Inc. (W.D. Tex.) – Assisting IP Bridge in a 4-patent infringement suit related to dynamic random access memory semiconductor devices.
  • Provided technical support in defending Netapp, Inc. in multiple patent infringement actions pertaining to data storage technologies before the ITC.
  • A global leader in medical technology, services, and solutions (PTAB) – Assisting in challenging patents related to transcatheter aortic valve replacement technology in inter partes review proceedings.
  • A leading networking company v. SIPCO, LLC (E.D. Texas) – Assisted a client in a six-patent lawsuit relating to wireless network technology.
