Amber E. Sommer
Amber Sommer focuses her practice on employee benefits, executive compensation, and labor and employment matters. She frequently represents companies in all benefits, compensation, and employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions. She negotiates and drafts employment, restrictive covenant/NDA, and severance agreements and advises on the design, compliance, and administration of executive compensation and benefits arrangements, including equity incentive programs. Amber counsels clients with respect to compliance with IRS and Department of Labor regulations, including 409A and deferred compensation, qualified and non-qualified plans, and the Affordable Care Act. She also counsels public companies on executive compensation reporting and compliance matters.
Amber’s clients span a wide range of industries with a particular focus on healthcare. She also represents public and private universities and medical schools in benefits matters and employment and benefits considerations during restructurings.
Amber maintains an active pro bono practice focused on human trafficking matters. Prior to law school, Amber worked with international development and U.S. foreign aid in the Middle East.
