Steve Simons became a partner in 1981 and retired on December 31, 2004. A partner for nearly 20 years, Steve spent more than 30 years focusing on public finance, with a particular emphasis on the revenue bond area. Steve joined Ropes & Gray in 1974 and worked in the firm's Public Finance Group.

 

Steve supervised Ropes & Gray's tax-exempt revenue bond activity and worked on over 350 transactions as bond counsel, aggregating over $2.5 billion in total amount. He participated in numerous credit-enhanced transactions, including transactions supported by letters of credit, bond insurance, and third-party guarantors. Steve served as bond counsel throughout New England in financings for bonds; revenue bonds; revenue bonds for educational institutions, including non-profit independent primary and secondary schools and colleges and universities; social service agencies; and health care facilities, including nursing homes and assisted and independent living facilities. Steve also served as bond counsel for "small issue" industrial development bonds and bonds for non-profit research institutions. He also counselled various borrowers, purchasers, and underwriters of tax-exempt and taxable revenue bonds.
