Janet has been active in local and national philanthropic endeavors, including Independent Sector, the Council on Foundations, the Committee of Regional Associations and United Ways of New England. She has served as a board member of the Maine Philanthropy Center, Executive Service Corps of New England, the Museum of Afro-American History, the Massachusetts Academic Decathlon and the Black Achievers Commission of the Greater Boston YMCA. She is currently an active volunteer with WE CAN, a Cape Cod organization serving women and their families.

Janet Taylor joined Ropes & Gray in 2001, bringing over 30 years of experience working with private foundations, corporate giving programs and family philanthropy. With her extensive knowledge of charitable institutions, she develops creative strategies for leveraging philanthropic resources. In her role as Philanthropic Advisor, she assists clients and their families in making their charitable giving more fulfilling and effective.

Since 1999, Janet has served as Managing Trustee of the C.F. Adams Charitable Trust, which focuses on the Downeast region of Maine and Children’s Behavioral Health in Massachusetts. She serves on the board of The Cape Cod Foundation. Janet’s background includes 14 years with Raytheon Company where she was responsible for the corporate-wide community relations and contributions program, the scholarship program for children of employees and the United Way campaign. She also served for nine years as President of Associated Grantmakers of Massachusetts (Philanthropy MA), a regional association of foundations and corporations that promotes professionalism and collaboration among donors and nonprofit organizations.
