Betsy G. Varnau
Betsy Varnau joined Ropes & Gray's litigation department in 2018. She represents clients in complex litigation at the trial, appellate, and administrative levels in a broad range of subject areas. Betsy is a certified mediator and regularly conducts court-ordered mediations as part of her pro bono practice.
During law school, Betsy was an Articles Editor of Northwestern’s Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, a board member of the Women’s Leadership Coalition, as well as a board member of Northwestern’s Wigmore Follies. Betsy also externed with a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Before law school, Betsy worked in corporate marketing and product management. As an undergraduate, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French and Francophone Studies and a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
