GangQiao (John) Wang joined Ropes & Gray in 2010 as an associate practicing in the Corporate Department. John has extensive experience in the formation and operation of private equity funds, venture capital funds, funds of funds and separate accounts. John also represents U.S. and international institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, funds of funds, endowments and charitable foundations in connection with their investments in U.S., European, Asian and Latin American leverage buyout, venture capital, real estate, energy, mezzanine and hedge fund investments. John has experience in private equity M&A deals and debt financing.  John regularly counsels private equity fund sponsors and venture capital fund sponsors on various compliance and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, John worked as an intern at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York City and the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to studying at Harvard Law School, John worked in a law firm in Shanghai and taught Chinese law as a full time faculty member at Fudan University Law School in Shanghai. He has passed the National Bar Examination of P.R. China.

  • Represented a venture capital sponsor in its domestic and international offering of a $500+ million venture capital fund.
  • Represented a venture capital sponsor in its domestic and international offering of a venture capital fund.
  • Represented a middle market healthcare private equity fund in its domestic and international offering of a $400+ million healthcare private equity fund.
  • Represented a fund of funds sponsor in its domestic and international offerings of a series of fund of funds and separate accounts. 
  • Represented an institutional investment adviser in its domestic and international offerings of mezzanine debt funds and separate accounts.
