Monika A. Wirtz

Chief of Special Projects

Monika Wirtz serves as the firm’s chief of special projects. In this role, Monika focuses on the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic plan with an emphasis on developing concrete implementation and execution plans. She also serves as an advisor to the chairman, managing partner and policy committee and supports them on a variety of projects and initiatives.

Previously, for over seven years, Monika served as the chief of the firm’s practice development team, which she grew to include over 80 professionals embedded in and supporting the firm’s practice groups, offices, and client teams, as well as the central event management and planning organization. The practice development team works closely with the firm’s partners on strategic planning, business development, marketing and lateral partner integration. While the chief of practice development, Monika took the lead in developing a number of planning tools, including practice group business plans, individual partner plans, and partnership promotion consideration plans. She also led the development of the firm’s global partner retreats and was integral in launching the firm’s client teaming program.

Before joining Ropes & Gray, Monika was a junior partner at a global law firm, where she focused on complex commercial and securities litigation and white collar defense. For six months, Monika also served as a special assistant district attorney in Middlesex County.
