The California Air Resources Board has announced that it will hold another virtual public workshop to support the development of SB 253. SB 253 is California’s corporate greenhouse gas emissions reporting requirement. The first annual disclosures are due later this year, in August. In this post, we further discuss the workshop and include the registration link.
About the Workshop
According to CARB’s announcement, the following will be addressed at the workshop:
- The workshop will include an update from CARB staff on additional information for this year’s August 10 reporting deadline for Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions data.
- The workshop also will cover the next stage in regulatory development and provide an overview of the development of the greenhouse gas reporting requirements for 2027-2030. The discussion will include preliminary CARB staff options for Scope 3 emissions reporting requirements for 2027-2030, a solicitation of alternative approaches and an overview of the CARB staff’s approach to the economic analysis.
The workshop will be held virtually on March 23 at 1pm Pacific time. Registration is available here.
CARB has indicated that the workshop materials will be posted on March 20.
CARB also will open up a public docket for feedback. Comments will be accepted through the docket from March 23 through April 13.
